Geothermal by definition means "heat stored in the earth". A more accurate term as it pertains to heating and cooling in our area is "Ground Source". With ground source we are simply using the constant temeratures of the earth at 180 to 200 feet below to provide a heat sink for the system. In our area the temerature of the earth at these depths is about 55 degrees F. all year long. By circulating a solution through sealed piping to these depths and the geo heat pump, we can provide a constant temperature to the heat pump making it operate very efficiently. Besides being very efficient, these systems provide superb conditioning of your home, and supplement your domestic hot water as a by product of the operation.
These systems are advanced, yet the principle behind them is very simple.
